Aly's watching the storm clouds, gathering across the bay and she knows when they're coming, although they're many miles away ever since she was a young girl, she's been praying for the rain Aly's watching the storm clouds, gathering across the bay Aly's passing the nightwatch, passing for security nobody ever saw her coming, nobody ever saw her leave ever since she was a young girl, she's been waiting patiently sometimes you have to put the light out, to set the darkness free. Aly's watching the cold eyes, that took so many years away heaven knows he had it coming, and it's never too late ever since she was a young girl, she's been waiting for the day to close the door on the darkness, that took so many years away Aly's watching the sunrise, breaking out across the bay and she know's that they're coming, although they're many miles away every circle can be broken, from the cradle to the grave Aly's watching the sunrise, breaking out across the bay

I see you in the burning sky over dirty London town I see you in the afterglow when the dirty sun goes down when the dirty sun goes down I understand you couldn't stay forever That you were just visiting I understand you are keeping us together Wherever we go wandering I understand you couldn't stay forever That you were just visiting I try and understand I see you when I lose my way and stumble in the dark I see you when I search the sky for a single guiding star But I don't need to look for you you'll always be right here I'll see you when I see you every day of every year every day of every year I understand you couldn't stay forever That you were just visiting I understand you are keeping us together Wherever we go wandering I understand you couldn't stay forever That you were just visiting I try and understand

Dear Hazel 05:00
When demons are your only friends and the voices in your head hold you down in bed When there's no other means of escape no other choice to make, drowning in the wake That's when you have to see the light Dear Hazel, oh, is there anyone home or are you already gone, Dear Hazel Dear Hazel, oh, did he save your soul or take it for his own, Dear Hazel So many miles from home where people go to die, tired of asking why In the spotlight of an empty stage a trophy to parade, perfect your smile and wave They don't see the strings they don't understand, it's all by sleight of hand But He sees everything in broken promised land, and castles made of sand The devil and the deep blue sea Dear Hazel, oh, is there anyone home or are you already gone, Dear Hazel Dear Hazel, oh, did he save your soul or take it for his own, Dear Hazel Dear Hazel, oh, in your perfect home you're still so alone, Dear Hazel Dear Hazel, oh, is there anyone home or are you already gone, Dear Hazel

Do you remember storm-petrels swirling in your wake A sinner or a saint? Walk on water, leap of faith Omen and Amen, they can almost sound the same When whispered in the wind Do you recall the caterwauling calls of kittiwakes The voices of the long gone and lost have found their place A blessing or a curse they can almost sound the same Until the time has come to remember her name And all her sons and daughters shall return For all her tides, a revolution turns Look over the horizon Leucothea is rising And all her sons and daughters shall return The mollymawks that silently circle overhead Like a mobile of mockingbirds above a baby's head A beast of burden or a weight around your neck By any other name are one and the same And all her sons and daughters shall return For all her tides, a revolution turns Look over the horizon Leucothea is rising And all her sons and daughters shall return

With headlamps cast into the monochrome, the minstrels of the thunderdome, we came from distant black holes and into the light We'd shed our broken skins of blood and rust, forgetting that we came from dust and ashes and return ourselves to salt and sand Those were the days when you and I, we knew where where we belonged Those were the days my love when I, could still turn you on a sixpence Oh Danny boy, sing me a song from when I used to make her smile 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde Oh Danny, there but for the grace of whatever god you embrace it was those seaside days that saved us, and those days will never die 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde We'd dance upon the tattooed faces of the shaven-headed master-racers plastered on the promenade by day And then upon the tacky ballroom floors beneath the splintered glitter balls in caravan site function halls by night Those were the days when you and I, we knew where where we belonged Those were the days my love when I, could still turn you on a sixpence Oh Danny boy, sing me a song from when I used to make her smile 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde Oh Danny, there but for the grace of whatever god you embrace it was those seaside days that saved us, and those days will never die 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde Now it's just you and me, oh Danny boy, the last men standing, dead men walking stranded on the platforms of our heyday We're burning fossils, turning into smoke, a cartoon picture-postcard joke and Billy Butlin's turning in his grave These are the days I thought that I would never have to pass now everything is built to break and nothing ever lasts – forever.... Oh Danny boy, sing me a song from when I used to make her smile 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde Oh Danny, there but for the grace of whatever god you embrace it was those seaside days that saved us, and those days will never die 'cause the seaside ain't the seaside without Seaside Danny Wilde

Apollo 13 04:20
Oh, my heart bleeds with your blood Oh, let it bleed, let it flood If I could leave, I never would I never would Whomever we were before They are not welcome anymore Turn out the lights and close the door Close the door Sunny days in quarantine We were burning up Pure atomic energy Feeding every touch Sunny days in quarantine we were burning up precious electricity Have we spent too much? Our hearts they beat in perfect time Our pulses speed, synchronised Disharmony, left behind We leave it all behind It's too cold here to call it home It's too cold here, to be alone Sunny days in quarantine....

Bury bury my body down by the sea Bury my body down by the waves I'm not going to hell or heaven Lay me down to live forever In the good seed, I will be saved In the good seed, we'll all be saved My home was a home, wherever we made our own I wanted for nothing less or more My land was a land owned by no lord or man For my every need it did provide Bury, bury my body.... My flag was a flag with no staff and no borders It was coloured by the seasons and the sky My queen was a queen who came from way over the water 'Til my last breath she was by my side Bury, bury my body... My church was a church with no walls and no ceiling My psalms came from the choruses at dawn My god, I had no god – holiness was all around me I needed no guide to see the light Bury, bury my body....

about

Goodbye, Seaside Danny Wilde is Morning Bride's third long player, following the critically-acclaimed Lea Valley Delta Blues and The North Sea Rising. Recorded at home in the Yorkshire winter, Goodbye, Seaside Danny Wilde is their most intimate work to date.

Populated by characters inspired by those occupying the faded seaside town where it was conceived, Goodbye, Seaside Danny Wilde explores themes including loss, nostalgia, revenge, grief and obsession, brought to life by Amity's fragile but powerful vocals and soundtracked by sparse, campfire-warmed arrangements.

Musically and sonically the album shares common ground with similarly homemade, melancholic works such as Springsteen's Nebraska, The Magnetic Field's 69 Love Songs and Elliott Smith's more intimate work, with the touchstones of the darker sides of English folk and classic Americana still very much apparent.

Jonah Schulz's cover sees Turner's The Fighting Temeraire – symbolising the decline of a golden age, and the struggle to embrace an uncertain future - reinterpreted as a 1960's seaside postcard; a fitting visual representation of the themes explored within Goodbye, Seaside Danny Wilde.
